5 Tips for Happy Unwrapping!
Here are some essential items that you may want to have on hand to make for happy unwrapping on Christmas Morning or at ANY special occasion when many gifts will get unwrapped.
1 - TRASH RECEPTICAL(S): We place this BEHIND our sofa to toss used wrapping paper in as we go. And they come in different patterns so are not unattractive to leave out. And we use a paper bag for recyclable wrap. Sadly most wrapping paper is not recyclable and remember, wrapping paper should NEVER be burned in your fireplace. So like us, you may want to separate recyclable wrap and those that are not.
2 – BOW & RIBBON BOX: We reuse these embellishments from year to year so we collect them in a holiday-themed box.
3 - THANK YOU LIST & PEN: We make sure to jot down who gave us what lovely gift so that our written thank-you notes can be posted before the New Year. But I also like to text a photo on the day to show the reaction when the gift is opened. Here is a printable list for YOU to do the same!
4 - SCISSORS & A PACKAGE OPENER: we keep them on hand to easily open those impossible plastic clamshells and boxes.
And, most importantly…
5 - THE ESSENTIAL BIN: In our family this plaid bin is where ALL the cash, checks, gift cards, and small expensive items (think electronics and jewelry) go the MOMENT they are unwrapped! This bin prevents things from getting tossed out with the wrapping paper remains and being inadvertently thrown away! Find a special bin or box of your own to designate for YOUR happy unwrapping!
Use these five unwrapping tips at ANY EVENT: birthdays, graduations, showers, and any other time when many gifts are unwrapped at once.
And if it is the season I am wishing you an amazing Christmas celebration!
