Your Word of the Year Guide Inside!
As the year begins to wind down, it can feel tempting to rush straight into planning the next one. New goals, new lists, new pressure. But before doing any of that, I like to pause.
For me, choosing a Word of the Year has become a meaningful annual ritual. It's not about fixing myself or setting lofty resolutions. It is about choosing a lens. A way I want to move through the coming year.
Last year, my word was Wonder.
Wonder invited curiosity instead of judgment. It reminded me to slow down, notice more, and stay open to learning. It helped me ask better questions and soften my expectations. Looking back, looking at things through the lens of “wonder” shaped my year in ways both subtle and profound, and I am deeply grateful for that.
As we approach a new year, I have not chosen my next word yet. And that is intentional.
Choosing a word does not have to be rushed. In fact, I think it is better when it is allowed to unfold thoughtfully. Sometimes the right word emerges during a quiet moment. Sometimes it shows up in conversation. Sometimes it reveals itself during a walk, a journal entry, or a holiday gathering.
There is no right word. There is only the word that feels true for where you are right now.
If you already have a word in mind, I would love to hear it. And if you are still searching, that is perfectly fine too. Sometimes the searching is the most meaningful part.
